The FA Cup holders are in the hunt for a new attacker amidst strong speculations linking both Eden Hazard and Willian with an exit from the club and have turned their attention towards Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha.
As reported by the Daily Mirror, the tabloid claims the Premier League giants are leading the race to sign the ex-Manchester United man after Tottenham Hotspur dropped their interest in the £75m-rated Ivory Coast international, setting up a potential swoop before Thursday evening’s transfer deadline.
Zaha was a key part of the Eagles’ squad last season in their successful fight to avoid relegation, scoring nine goals and providing a further three assists in 29 Premier League appearances.
He could be seen as the ideal replacement for Belgium international Hazard, who continues to be widely linked with a move to Real Madrid.
