Maurizio Sarri, who replaced Antonio Conte as the manager of the Pensioners have only signed two players in this summer, Jorginho and Rob Green. Maurizio Sarri is already scanning the market for alternatives and Kovacic is a player he has bookmarked, having watched him closely during his days in Italy with Inter Milan.
The Croatian midfielder has also attracted interests from Manchester City, who are considering a move for him after missing out on their major targets like Fred and Jorginho. But it said that the new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is keen on adding Kovacic to his squad before the transfer window closes next Thursday.
It is said that Sarri expects a midfielder and a center-back to arrive at the Stamford Bridge, although the Pensioners will have to act fast if the likes of Thibaut Courtois and Willian are to leave this summer. Kovacic can turn out to be a younger alternative for Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey, who’s also on Pensioner’s transfer shortlist.
Kovacic, who is currently on a holiday after reaching the World Cup finals with European underdogs Croatia is yet to return to pre-season. The Croatian can turn out to be a good fit for an attack-minded role in Maurizio Sarri’s three-headed midfield.
