Surprising reports from Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo is saying that the Manchester outfit have agreed terms with Yery Mina, but talks between the Catalans and the Red Devils are still in the pipeline over a settlement.
The Colombian international fell short at the Nou Camp and struggled to hold down his centre-back berth in Enersto Valverde’s first-team line-up.
Mourinho is raring to sign a centre-back this summer. Harry Maguire was earmarked to clinch that spot at Old Trafford, but Leicester City slapped a huge price tag on the England star, scaring away the Red Devils.
The Portuguese will opt to sign Yery Mina instead, but Ligue One side Lyon and Merseysiders Everton are on their heels for the out-of-favour 23-year-old defender.
20-time Premier League champions United are tipped favourites to sign the defender, but United will have to dicker a deal with the Catalans to approve his switch.
A buy-back clause will be struck out of the deal if United succeed in acquiring Mina’s services, an offer that is unavailable to Lyon or Everton should they land the Colombian afterwards.
Furthermore, United’s top brass Matt Judge is already in Barcelona to finish talks with Barcelona over the defender.
