Report: Michael Owen states his prediction for Arsenal v Chelsea FC

The Liverpool FC legend is tipping Chelsea FC to beat Arsenal 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday evening

Michael Owen is backing Chelsea FC to secure a 2-1 win against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday evening to all but end the Gunners’ hopes of a top-four finish this season.
The north London side will welcome Maurizio Sarri’s men looking to bounce back from their fifth Premier League defeat of the campaign last weekend after a 1-0 loss at West Ham United.

Arsenal are six points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea FC to leave their hopes of securing a Champions League spot in Unai Emery’s first season in charge in doubt.

The Gunners managed to go on an impressive 14-game unbeaten run following losses to Manchester City and Chelsea FC in their opening two Premier League games of the season.

But Arsenal’s form has been patchy over the past month or so following a return of seven points from their last six Premier League games.

Chelsea FC, on the other hand, have racked up 12 points from a possible 18 to open up a small gap between themselves and the chasing pack in the race to secure fourth place.

Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is backing Chelsea FC to ease to a 2-1 victory over Arsenal.

“Arsenal have won just one of their last 14 league games against Chelsea although it should be noted that the Gunners have a good recent home Premier League record in London derbies – unbeaten in their last 12 at the Emirates,” Owen told BetVictor.

“Gunners keeper Bernd Leno has only kept one clean sheet in his first 15 Premier League starts (v Huddersfield H).

“I would be surprised if the hosts kept their north London rivals at arm’s length given the Blues have won their last three away Premier League games. Chelsea talisman Eden Hazard might be the difference.”

Chelsea FC were 3-2 winners against Arsenal when the two London rivals met at Stamford Bridge in the second fixture of the 2018-19 season.
