Report: Maurizio Sarri instruct club representative to begin serious talk in signing new Pirlo

According to a report via the Sun, Maurizio Sarri has ordered Chelsea scouts to watch Sandro Tonali and is planning a £20 million bid for the Brescia midfielder.

The 18-year-old is a regular starter with Brescia in Serie B and has attracted interest from Juventus, Inter, Roma and Sampdoria.

According to reports in Italy from Calciomercato, Maurizio Sarri is a huge admirer of the player and Chelsea are willing to back the Italian and bring the midfielder to London.

Tonali is gathering a lot of interest in Italy, with the likes of Juventus, Roma and both Milan clubs taking notice of his performances in Serie B.

Brescia have already turned down offers for the player that is being dubbed ‘the next Andrea Pirlo’.

Tonali helped guide Italy to the final of the European Under-19 Championship this summer and is already being compared to Andrea Pirlo, who also made his professional debut at Brescia.

‘Sandro Tonali is Sandro Tonali, it’s not the new Pirlo, on the contrary,’ Tonali’s agent Roberto La Florio told Calciomercato last month.

‘While he’s close to him in terms of position on the pitch and character, calling him ‘the new Pirlo’ can only hurt him.

‘At his age Pirlo wasn’t a regista, so if we want to go over the top, at the same age he’s even stronger.

‘Obviously we’re comparing a kid to the champion, but I say that because Andrea was a trequartista, then Mazzone moved him into the middle of the pitch and with Ancelotti he became a unique player, incomparable.

‘But trust me – Tonali is Tonali.’
