Maurizio Sarri revealed many ‘secrets’ about his football style. The fast-paced, possession-based philosophy named ‘Sarri-Ball’ was the main reason why Chelsea were hell-bent to bring him to London. Since his arrival, Chelsea are playing an attractive brand of football, completely opposite to what Antonio Conte defensive-minded philosophy.

Sarri admitted that the term ‘Sarri-Ball’ was created by the media, while he was happy to reveal how his team is supposed to play. Speaking to Sky Sports, the 59-year-old said Chelsea will need two months to perfect his approach.
CHELSEA NEED TWO MONTHS TO PERFECT SARRI-BALL PHILOSOPHY
Maurizio Sarri said Chelsea will need two months’ work to adapt to his playing style whilst highlighting the importance of possession for Sarri-Ball. He said,“They are working well, trying to improve, working on the mistakes. We need to improve, and we want to reach our 100 percent as soon as possible. I think it’s easier for the offensive players. It’s usually three months, but my feeling is in[sic] this team there are a lot of intelligent players so I hope only two months.”
The Italian coach also added that he likes his teams to play and control the possession. “I like it when the team is in control of the match, I like very much the ball possession, I like to play in the other half,” he said. “Ball possession, but at a very high speed. Mental speed, first of all, not only ball possession in my half. Maybe I’ve learned it from a lot of lost matches, I think!”

Sarri also revealed that he thinks of Pep Guardiola very highly, while lavishing praise on the Catalan coach. He added,”I respect Guardiola as a man and a coach, for me, he is the best in the world now.” Chelsea returns to action on Sunday against Newcastle.
Ever since taking over at Chelsea, Sarri has made an instant impact. He brought a wealth of positivity to the Bridge and helped the Blues retain key players like Willian and Eden Hazard. The Blues are quickly adapting to his blueprint and results are also soaring. Credit should be given to the Italian for such a quick change of fortunes in so little time.
