Michael Owen is backing Chelsea FC to beat Huddersfield Town in their Premier League opener on Saturday afternoon.
The Blues had a busy end to the summer transfer window following the arrival of Spain international Kepa Arrizabalaga in a £71m deal from Atletic Bilbao on Thursday.
The 23-year-old has become the world’s most expensive goalkeeper following his switch to Chelsea FC from the La Liga side ahead of the 2018-19 Premier League season.
The Blues have also signed Croatia international Mateo Kovavic on loan, veteran England goalkeeper Rob Green and Napoli midfielder Jorginho in a £57m deal.
Chelsea FC finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last term to miss out on a spot in the Champions League for the second time in three seasons.
Former Liverpool FC and Manchester United striker Owen is backing Chelsea FC to beat Huddersfield in their Premier League opener on Saturday afternoon.
“New Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri faces an anxious wait to see if he can persuade Willian, Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois this week that their immediate future lies at Stamford Bridge,” Owen told BetVictor.
“Hazard was sorely missed by the FA Cup winners in a one-sided Community Shield defeat to champions Manchester City on Sunday. I wasn’t convinced the Chelsea defenders were in love with their new 4-4-2 formation, having played three central defenders and two wing backs under the previous successful regime at the Bridge.
“The good news for Sarri is they won’t play City every week and I think they can get a positive result in West Yorkshire. Huddersfield have picked up just 13 points in 2018 – fewer than any other side and I think it could be a long season for the Terriers.”
Chelsea FC were 1-0 winners against Manchester United in the FA Cup final after Eden Hazard scored the decisive goal from the penalty spot.
The Blues sacked Conte and appointed Sarri as the Italian’s replacement ahead of the 2018-19 Premier League.
Chelsea FC sold Thibaut Courtois in a £31m switch to La Liga giants Real Madrid.
