Maurizio drops midfielder from Chelsea squad, reveals why

Chelsea fans were disappointed about the absence of Loftus-Cheek in the line-up against Arsenal on Sunday. Loftus-Cheek is highly rated among the Blues faithful as they seek to see youth player become the mainstay of the club since club legend John Terry emerged in 2003.

Many fans went on Social media to vent out their frustrations with some suggesting that the player should leave the club permanently.  However club boss Maurizio Sarri has explained the rationale behind the 23-year-old omission revealing that it was a tactical decision.

“It depends on the position on the pitch,” he told reporters. “I prefer to have on the bench two wingers, and only one midfielder. So it depends on this. Not any other situation.

According to the Italian, he decides the 7 players on the bench due to the needs of the club for every game. He referred to the week before the match were Loftus-Cheek featured for 22 minutes that he decided to take 2 midfielders to Leicester.

Sarri also conceded that he planned taking one midfielder on the bench against Arsenal with Mateo Kovacic getting the nod ahead of the England international.

Loftus-Cheek had been interviewed before the game where he revealed his intention to fight for places at Chelsea. Loftus cheek in our opinion should seek for a loan move to a big club outside England.  He showed last season that he could adapt to the EPL with a string of positive performances which got him a spot at the world cup.
