PSG warns Barcelona not to push to make a deal after Star Player reportedly reject PSG offer

BARCELONA IS STILL DESPERATELY SEARCHING FOR AN ANDRES INIESTA REPLACEMENT AND HAS TARGETED ADRIEN RABIOT, BUT IT SEEMS THAT PSG HAS ISSUED A WARNING TO THE LA LIGA GIANTS.

The Brazilian made the summer transfer window his own personal soap opera, which dragged on for what seemed like weeks before he finally handed over a check for €222 million to Barcelona, despite reports of the La Liga ready to block the move. But everything went through and Neymar became the most expensive player in football history, annihilating the comparatively paltry sum of 90 million that Manchester United shelled out for Paul Pogba.

What started everything that leads to that happening, was Barcelona going after Paris Saint-Germain star Marco Verratti. The Catalan giants were hell-bent on signing Italian man, especially after his performances against them in the Champions League and even in the Ligue 1. However, all this did was lead to an offensive attack by the Parisians with Neymar eventually joining them.

Now with Barcelona losing Andres Iniesta after a long and triumphant career in the Camp Nou, the La Liga giants have been searching far and wide for a potential replacement. The likes of Marco Verratti, Paul Pogba, Kevin Kampl and Adrien Rabiot all make the shortlist despite Barcelona already bringing in Arthur Melo recently and Philippe Coutinho in January.

However, the former Manchester City youth star Adrien Rabiot has less than a year left on his contract and thus would come considerably cheaper than usual. But while the La Liga giants have touted Marco Verratti as the long-term replacement, it seems that Rabiot’s frustration at PSG and his insistent of wanting to go on towards better things makes him the ideal target.

But it looks like Barcelona are in trouble with reports from Sport indicating that PSG has warned the La Liga giants, that they will report them to FIFA over the 23-year-old. It further adds that the relationship between the French and the Spanish giants have soured even more over Barcelona’s interest in Rabiot. And if even further reports from Don Balon are to be believed, then PSG have threatened Barcelona with retaliation.

The Ligue 1 giants have reportedly revealed that if Barcelona continues with their charge for the midfielder, then PSG and all their vast sums of oil money will come for Philippe Coutinho. While their first choice would be Ivan Rakitic, the Croatian’s statement revealing that he would like to stay at Barcelona for the considerable future makes that a tough sell.

Which means to appease superstar Neymar, the Parisians will instead make a move for Coutinho, with PSG showing interest in the Brazilian star even before he moved to Barcelona. However, the lure of the Camp Nou and playing alongside Lionel Messi made it an easy choice for Coutinho, but it seems that PSG is willing to open up their chequebooks once again.

AUTHOR’S TAKE:

Adrien Rabiot is certainly talented, and could potentially become great a midfielder but is he worth all this trouble? Sure he has less than a year left on his current deal, but his attitude shows that he clearly thinks he’s better than the 23-year-old actually is. Barcelona could do with someone like Frenkie De Jong, and given that’s the Ajax star is their top target, why not wait?
