And right now another Spanish publication, Diario Gol, claims the top class defender has agreed on a potential move to Old Trafford after becoming extremely unhappy with life at Madrid, with a reported £89million offer now set to be submitted to seal a deal.
If that figure were enough to persuade the Bernabeu giant to let the world class defender go, Varane, 25, would become the Red Devils joint-club-record buy, with France international midfielder Paul Pogba joining from Serie A champions Juventus for the same transfer fee back in 2016.
There’s without doubt Man United could accommodate more options at the back right now poor campaigns from the likes of England international centre-half Chris Smalling, Ivorian Eric Bailly and England star Phil Jones, while Argentine defender Marcos Rojo has strongly struggled to remain fit.
