The website reports that the Gunners have agreed a €13m (£11.5m) fee for the Paraguayan international, and they say a move is all but finalised.
Atlanta president Darren Eales was quoted as saying to FOX Deportes USA that Almiron’s move to England is imminent:
“Almirón’s future is already decided and will go to England in the European winter market.”
The 24-year-old was linked to the Gunners earlier this year after the midfielder’s excellent first season in Major League Soccer following his move from Argentinian club Lanus for $8million in January 2017. At the end of the 2017 campaign, he was named in MLS’s best XI and was awarded the “Newcomer of the Year.”
Almiron has followed that up with an excellent second year as well. In 2018, the Paraguayan has scored 12 goals and provided 13 assists in 31 appearances during the regular season. Despite his performances at club level, he remains on the periphery of his national side, making his last appearance for his country against the USA back in March.
