Arsenal news: Alexandre Lacazette in touchline argument with Mohamed Elneny - here’s why

ARSENAL star Alexandre Lacazette got into a touchline fracas with team-mate Mohamed Elneny - and Ian Wright has revealed why. The Gunners managed a comfortable win over Burnley in the early kick-off on Saturday.

Unai Emery’s men managed to coast to a 3-1 win, with Mesut Ozil starring after being thrown a lifeline by his boss.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored a brace with Alex Iwobi grabbing another in injury time, while Ashley Barnes gave the Clarets brief hope.

Arsenal are pushing for a place into the top four but remain behind Chelsea in the Premier League.

And while there was plenty to smile about from a Gunners point of view, there was one unhappy chappy.

Lacazette could not get on the scoresheet and was subsequently subbed off for Iwobi with just over 10 minutes to go.

But the Frenchman was not satisfied with the decision and as he trudged off the pitch he took his frustrations out on Elneny.

And Arsenal legend Wright has given his theory on why the ex-Lyon ace kicked off.

Wright tweeted: “Laca obviously disappointed.

“As a striker you know when there are still goals out there – game is stretched and he wants to score!!!!”

Emery has also opened up on the situation, admitting that he is not in the know of what happened.

He said: “I didn’t see that. I think he is happy with our victory.

“He wants to score. When a striker doesn’t score I like he is angry with this situation. He worked very well today. I think he is going back to the best Lacaztte.”

The Spaniard also went on to state that he is more than happy with Burnley’s aggressive style of play, during a heated match.

He added: “They are an aggressive team with a characteristic that is clear is the game plan.

“But we have respect and we need to adapt in the game plan to the long ball.

“They are more physical than us, that is normal.”
