Chelsea Report: Christian Pulisic to Chelsea: Borussia Dortmund will sell on one condition

CHELSEA are hopeful of signing Christian Pulisic - but Borussia Dortmund will only sanction a deal at the end of the season.The 20-year-old winger has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge during the mid-season sales.

Chelsea are on the hunt for long-term replacements for Pedro and Willian - and Pulisic would fit the bill.He is under contract at Borussia Dortmund until 2020 so the Bundesliga giants are running out of time to cash in.

But it is claimed that BVB bosses will dig their heels in until the summer transfer window.
Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri was reluctant to talk when asked about the USA international earlier this month.

He said: “I don’t want to talk about a player from another club.”

Pulisic has also been linked with a move to Liverpool to link up with former Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp.

And Ian McGarry, a football consultant, believes Pulisic would rather move to Anfield than Stamford Bridge.

McGarry said: “We reported last week on Chelsea’s moves. I noticed some of the press seized on that and claimed there was a meeting initially between Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea sine that point in regards to a transfer.

“What has transpired since is that speaking to a member of the players’ represenative team, I’ve ascertained that Pulisic himself at 19 fears that he may get lost in the Chelsea flood of talented attacking midfielders.

“And unless one of the major players moves on - and I think he’s looking at Eden Hazard and the possibility of him leaving next summer, which is certainly a possibility but not yet confirmed - then he feels his future would be better, or more optimistic, at Liverpool where he sees there’s a need and desire to play that 4-3-3 system that Jurgen Klopp favours.

“And there is a desire from the owners of Liverpool to recruit the next American superstar.”

Chelsea are looking to strengthen their attack in January, with the Telegraph claiming talks have been held over a move for Gonzalo Higuain.
